The 30-Minute Promise
When Zuma Food says 30 minutes, we mean it as a target, not a marketing number. We've redesigned the entire food delivery workflow to make that target achievable for the majority of orders.
The three biggest enemies of fast food delivery are: (1) slow restaurant acceptance, (2) poor driver matching, and (3) last-mile confusion. Zuma has engineered specific solutions for each.
Restaurant Acceptance: 60-Second Rule
When an order is placed, the restaurant partner has 60 seconds to accept or reject it. If they don't respond within 60 seconds, it's automatically accepted and the kitchen timer starts. This eliminates the most common delay in food delivery — a distracted restaurant staff member forgetting to check the tablet.
Our restaurant partner dashboard sends three simultaneous alerts: a loud audio alert on the tablet, a push notification to the restaurant owner's phone, and a WhatsApp message. 93% of orders are acknowledged within 20 seconds.
Driver Pre-Positioning
Zuma's AI pre-positions drivers near popular restaurant clusters before the lunchtime and dinnertime peaks. The system predicts, based on 6 months of historical data, which streets in Nairobi will generate the most orders between 12:00–13:30. Drivers who move to those areas get offered a small bonus per delivery during peak windows — which increases supply exactly where it's needed.
For Restaurant Partners
Joining Zuma Food is free. We charge 25% commission on orders placed through the app. In exchange, we provide: the driver network, the payment processing, the customer interface, real-time analytics on popular dishes, and a marketing channel to 2.5 million users. We also do monthly payouts of restaurant earnings, with an option for daily settlement at a small fee.
Top-performing restaurants on Zuma report 40–60% of their total revenue coming from Zuma orders within the first three months. We've seen restaurants that had zero delivery capability add a full second revenue stream without hiring a single additional staff member.
